The first drive of the season is behind us, and the rest of the season awaits.  We were very fortunate with the weather.  It was in the 70s both days, and plenty of sunshine.  Ride management did an excellent job of marking trails.  It was a 15 mile course, and they gave us 2-1/2 hours to finish.

Most of the trail was nice wide two-tracks, with plenty of room for carts to pass.  Part of the trail crossed a wide open meadow with some gentle rolling hills, while other parts went through the woods with tighter corners, but it was all trot-able.  The most challenging part of the course was a steep hill with a 90-degree bend near the bottom.  There were no water crossings, but had there been rain in the recent past, there would have been several large puddles.

The horse riders camp has excellent facilities.  Each campsite has at least two 10X10-ft pens, plus posts for doing a high tie.  Most of the sites in the main camp are pull-through, and the sites in the group camp area are large with plenty of room to maneuver rigs.

I also need to thank Alice for loaning me her husband for “support crew”. It really made getting ready for the finishing vet check a whole lot easier

I “think” I should be listed in second place – I was like 20 points behind Alice in the final tally
