Timothy D Casserly 1951 – 2016
Timothy D Casserly, 65, died on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 as a result of a tragic bicycle accident at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He was born on July 23, 1951, the son of Harold and Cecelia Casserly. After graduating from Rockford Guilford High School in 1970, he served in the Army Reserves from 1970 to 1976. Tim was an Eagle scout, a private pilot and parachuted 99 times out of a perfectly good airplane. He and Ruth met on a frigid January weekend in 1982 on a Rock River Ski Association ski trip. Tim was a horse enthusiast, trail riding for many years, then driving his prized Arabian horses to many awards in distance driving competitions. He was a dedicated volunteer and member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, and a natural mentor to many. He was a gadget guy, master tinkerer and considered himself Mr. FixIt. “I can fix anything but the crack of dawn and a broken heart, but I’m still working on Dawn.” He leaves many broken hearts in his enormous circle of friends.
