We had a great weekend at Mosquito Run in Rogers, MN.  The weather was predicted to be rainy, but the storms seemed to go around us.  We had a couple of brief showers Friday night and Saturday evening, but otherwise it was dry.   However, it was very humid, which took a toll on everyone.  The trails at Mosquito Run are great for carts.  Most of them are wide enough for carts to pass easily.  There were a few steep hills, but most were not very long.  Lots of rolling hills across the prairie.  In spite of the name of the competition, the mosquitoes were not any worse than they are in WI.  The breeze was strong enough each day to keep them at bay.  Kudos to ride management for great trail markers!

Chessica and I did both the 15 miles on Saturday and 10 on Sunday. Major heat and humidity that has been rare in the area this season, so Saturday we came in with too high a pulse and needed a recheck after some extra sponging and scraping – went from 20 to 12 in 10 minutes, so it was strictly a cooling issue. Sunday was hotter, but a shorter drive with a slightly slower optimal time, better planning on my part and a pretty braiding job on both her mane and tail got us in with acceptable P&R on the first check. Trail marking was excellent.I had fun, but I was sure tired by midday Sunday. Chessica was fully recovered by Tuesday (“I” needed Monday off, “she” might have been fine).
