The following note accompanied the results from Alic Hubert:

Ray and I went to our first competition of the season this weekend at Palmyra Horseman’s Park in the Southern Unit of Kettle Moraine.  For the most part, the weather cooperated.  We hadn’t been able to work the horses much with the move, so we didn’t expect to do well.  But it was a great chance to see how Penguin and Goodie would behave in the trailer together.  On Saturday, the drivers went out five minutes apart, and on Sunday, we did ten minute intervals.  On Saturday, Ray was delayed by a large group of riders at the start, so Goodie and I caught up to them within the first mile.  Goodie has a very strong competitive streak, so he was constantly pulling on me trying to get ahead.  Sunday, I went out first, so Goodie had no one ahead to compete with.  It was a much more pleasant drive.  Goodie still did the first three miles too fast; we did some power slides around quite a few corners. 🙂

Not only was our event going on this weekend, but there was also another trail riding competition, plus a marathon in the park.  The trails were very busy, and the campground was full.  A lot of trail horses have never seen carts, so as a courtesy, drivers will stop and let the riders pass to help the riders’ horses stay a bit calmer.  So it was hard to strategize for the finish, as you never knew when you were going to have to stop for a few minutes.

But we had a great time, and no one got hurt.  I don’t guarantee the points are correct, but I know there was only a half point difference between first and second on Saturday.  Sorry Roxanne, but I can’t remember your last name or the name of your horse.

Order of Finish on Saturday:
Team Casserly, with Bach and Harley, 387.5
Jack Shea with Tiger 387
Roxanne Cromheecke kluge with her horse Rasha 375
Alice Hubert with Goodnight Starship 346
Ray Hubert with Penguin Beware 335

Order of Finish on Sunday:
Team Casserly 375
Alice 363
Ray 324

Thanks to Alice Hubert for the pictures!
